INDUSTRIAL PACKAGING SOLUTIONS
Engineered Skid Pallets & Heavy Machinery Bases
Single-deck platforms designed for static loads, mobile equipment foundations, and cost-efficient one-way transport.
Single-Deck Static Platforms
Constructed without bottom deck boards, our skid pallets serve as the ideal foundational interface for heavy machinery and single-trip consignments. By removing the lower timber layer found on standard wooden pallets, we create a low-profile platform that reduces friction for dragging and lowers material costs for non-racked goods.
Cost Efficiency: Using fewer boards translates to immediate savings on material and fastener costs.

What is the Difference Between a Skid and a Pallet?
Technically, a “pallet” includes both top and bottom deck boards to provide structural stability for stacking, whereas a “skid” (or pallet skid) features only a top deck resting on runners. This distinction is critical; skids are excellent for static storage but dangerous if placed in open beam racking systems where bottom support is mandatory.
For heavy equipment manufacturers, the skid acts as a permanent chassis. We engineer these custom bases using heavy-duty custom pallets designs that allow the machine to be bolted directly to the runners, ensuring stability from the assembly line to the final installation site.
If your search for “skid” was colloquial and you actually require a stackable solution for general distribution, we recommend exploring our stringer pallets or durable block pallets instead. However, for dragging loads or one-way export economy, the single-deck skid remains the superior choice.

When is a true skid the right choice for your application?
Skids are the optimal choice when the platform is a permanent part of the machinery (a base) or when you need to drag the load across a floor. Their lack of bottom boards prevents rocks or debris from getting trapped underneath, unlike gma pallets designs.
Can I use skids in a warehouse racking system?
Generally, no. Because they lack a bottom deck, skids cannot bridge the gap between racking beams safely. For racking, you must use a full pallet design like euro pallets which distribute weight across bottom boards.
Are skids cheaper than pallets?
Yes, typically. Since they use significantly less lumber (no bottom deck boards) and require fewer fasteners, the material cost is lower. This makes them ideal for one-way shipments where the platform will not be returned.
Do you offer heat-treated skids for export?
Absolutely. Any wood packaging exceeding 6mm thickness must be treated for export. We provide kiln-dried pinewood pallets material for skids that is fully ISPM-15 compliant and stamped.
What if I need a skid that looks like a pallet but is cheaper?
We can design a “skid” with minimal bottom runners to mimic a pallet for stability while keeping costs low. However, for true pallet functionality, upgrading to a standard 2-way or 4-way design is usually the safer long-term investment.
